Fitting a simple dental implant requires surgical expertise to ensure the success of the operation, which involves a number of steps:
- Local anaesthetic and slight incision of the gum to gain access to the bone.
- Placement of the titanium screw, encouraging its gradual integration into the bone.
- Waiting several months before fixing the prosthesis to the solidly anchored implant.
The “All-on-6” method involves placing six dental implants to support a complete dental prosthesis. Each implant is inserted into the jaw in a similar way to a single dental implant, following the same surgical steps.
Specialised dental implantology tools are used to prepare the implant bed, which can be placed manually or guided by planning software. This procedure can be carried out from the end of growth and at any age.
A temporary resin prosthesis is usually worn for around two months to allow osseointegration. However, in some cases, our implants allow the final prosthesis to be fitted immediately.
The operation, which is often carried out as an outpatient procedure under local anaesthetic, is quick, sometimes taking just a few minutes. The total duration varies according to the complexity of the case, including the consultation, the surgery, the healing period and the fixing of the prosthesis.
As far as anaesthesia is concerned, local anaesthesia is common, but intravenous sedation may be offered for the patient’s comfort, particularly in cases of anxiety. We also offer other solutions such as psychological support
or even a general anaesthetic, depending on the patient’s needs and preferences.
